How Milo keeps it real while I keep it couch.

Good thing Milo is of the age where he demands to exhibit his increasing independence.  "I DO IT!"  is most definitely his favorite words to string together.  As I continue to marinate in my nausea-fatigue coma, my little "I DO IT" man is learning the fine art of independent play mixed with a little 2 year old imagination...

Playing with Magna Tiles.  This is pretty much one of those daily toys. Milo loves putting together a "house."  And then fist pumping the house across the room.  Seaside-Jersey style.

Eatting dinner a scoop of peanut butter. (Yes, that's me with my legs stretched out.  Sitting on the couch. Yup.)

Milo contemplates breast augmentation plays with his balls... I should be banned from captioning pictures until I develop some couth...

My boys, putting on a concert for me.  Doctor? Rock Star?  Either one is cool by me!

Smoking a J.  Catching a case of the major sillies.

Cleaning shelves.  With body lotion.  Very expensive lotion I might add.

Looking at porn Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops with daddio.

Making mama breakfast a cake. Yum-O!
 The End.

I've been a piss-poor wife. But it's not my fault. (sort of)

It happens when you're a first trimester casualty.

The long-ass ass-sessions on the couch.  Surrounded by crumbs and empty containers of yogurt, half eatten PB and J sandwiches, string cheese wrappers and several dirty glasses...

The "so whatchu makin' for dinner"? nightly basis check-in.

"Hey hon, the cat litter needs some attention.  You scooped 2 days ago?  Do you mind revisiting? I smell their shit, like majah. love you.

me: Idol is on tonight for 2 hours."
husb:  Guess I'm giving Milo a bath tonight. AND putting him down.  Again."
me: what?

6:17am Saturday morning:
Milo: Daaaadeeeee.  Daaaadeeee. (repeat for 20 minutes)
I totally pretend like I'm in a deep, hard Princess sleep.
Afterall, it's daddy he's calling for, not me...

Refusing to eat leftovers.  Only take out gourmet sandwiches from the deli up the street will do for my lunch.  Cha-ching!!

I'm slowly taking over the closet with my maternity awesome-wear. Move over work uniforms and other straight-man attire...big girl pants and mu-mu's comin' through!!

I'm still hanging tight in the "inbetween stage" of regular pants no longer fitting comfortably or AT-ALL, yet, maternity pants are looking a little too MC Hammerish.  So I've taken to mostly wearing sweat pants or just walking around the house in pants that aren't buttoned.

My husb thinks this is an invitation.  Until he hears the sounds coming from my ass.

It's a good thing that man loves me.

my children have defied the ancient Chinese: true story

When Milo was about 2 months old, we went to spend a week with my mom.  The husb flew off to some far off land for a week and the thought of being left alone with this little creature was soaringly overwhelming.

One night, mom took us to have dinner with a friend of hers who is a Medium.  Mediums are people who have the ability to recieve and give messages with the afterlife.

Just for fun, I asked her if she felt any interesting energy from Milo.

She said a few things regarding his personality: he will LOVE the outdoors, he has ALOT of Leo in him (side note: my due date was for a Leo, but he was born a Cancer)

She went on to say that Milo was supposed to be a girl.

My first born was supposed to be a girl?  What happened?

My mind started racing: is he a girl trapped in a boy's body?  Is he going to persue gender reassignment surgery when he's older?  Are we going to be an episode on the Discovery Channel?  Will he change his name to Miley?!

The medium went on to say he and his sister have had past lives together and vowed to stay together in the next life as well. The girl was supposed to be born first. When *I* was ready to have a baby, the girl got scared, so Milo said he would go first.

"He's going to be looking for his sister at around age 4.   But right now,  he is LOVING being an only child."

(Which is true, because when I ask Milo, "Do you want a brother or a sister?"  He replies, "No, thanks.")

Right from the start, I knew the Milo-fetus was a Boy.  And when it was confirmed at 20 weeks and when I held the Milo-baby in my arms...everything felt RIGHT.

I had also referred to a Chinese birth gender chart.  The Chinese Birth Chart supposedly can predict the gender of your baby even before it's conceived with over 90% accuracy.  You line up the mother's lunar age with the month you conceive (or plan to conceive) and you get your gender prediction.

When I was pregnant with Milo, it predicted I was having a girl...

(to quote Led Zepplin)  "And it makes me wonder..."

Did my unborn children defy the ancient Chinese?!

So, according to the Chinese, this baby I'm currently carrying is a BOY.

I had a dream the other night that I was walking in a crowd.  A girl came running up to me, grabbed my arm and said, "Hey! Just wanted to let you know that your baby girl is going to be born healthy!!  She might have to go back to the hospital shortly after birth, but she is going to be FINE!"

I said, "You know I'm pregnant?"

She looked at me as if to say, I don't have time for this, of course I know you're pregnant!

"And it's a girl?  Really?"

I had so many questions, but then she ran off...

And I woke up.

Okay one more story:

I've got a friend who has an uncanny ability to *know* what a pregnant woman is having.

She looked at me from her hospital bed (she'd had baby #2 the day before) and said, matter-of-factly, "you're having a girl."

I said, "How can you tell?  The excess acne on my face?  The extreme and prolonged nausea?   Am I radiating tutu's and tea parties??!!"

"I just know."

It'll be another 2 months or so before we find out The Official Verdict.  We shall see...

stay tuned...

I still love to wash in your old bathwater..

Typically, Milo prefers the shower to a bath.  But after a night with grandma (while the husb and I went OUT!  gasp!) he now insists on the return of the bath.   I certainly don't mind, because 2 year olds in a bath tub are WAY cute.

Cue photos:

"Who's your mama?"
"You mama!"

Dude.  You are
my little RAD doll!!
....You make me feel like I couldn't love another

Week 8-10

Week 8:
Repeat week 7

Week 9:
Repeat week 8

It's the hangover that keeps on giving.

I've been working mucho this weeko -and mein oh mein!  On one hand -it's nice to get off the couch.  The adrenaline of being around...um, the people I work with...has kept my energy at a sufficiently productive level.

On the other hand...the hangover the 1st trimester take over is still in high tide.

The embryo-baby has ELBOWS!!

Oh! And guess who's interested in waking up in the middle of the night?!
My 2 year old!  Yay!!!

Who does he think he is??  A newborn??!!

In other news, the husb and I went out for some fine dining.  There's something really *magical* about watching your husband drink 4 2 martinis while I sip on my club soda/orange-pineapple cocktail...

...but I'm the one who wakes up with the -headache/nausea/fatigue- hangover.

C'mon week 12...!!

Week 10:

We've graduated to the Fetal period!!

I'm getting cloooooser...I see you 2nd trimester!  I SEE YOU!!  C'mon here, girl, come here!

I seriously need a good night sleep.  And a new pair of pants.  And a pantry full of salts, sweets, greens, and Reeses Pieces. I could probably purchase some more granny panties as well.

oy.

When I was pregnanct with Milo (WIWPWM) I remember distinctly there were 3 weeks (week 6-9) that were filled with the sleepy-head nausea. And then, magically, at week 10, I felt good. Non-pregnanct even...

But this time...all this started even before I took the pregnancy test, when I was barely 4 weeks along. (I took the test 4 days before my missed period, on December 28.  One reason was so that I wouldn't jack my baby up with all the alcohol I was planning on consuming for NYE.  Good thing...But my doc told me that was dumb.  I should have enjoyed myself and then waited for my missed period.  Ha, I love that lady!)

I've been feeling this nausea and fatigue harder and longer (hehe) this time around.  It's been 6 weeks. Where is the goddamn light in this tunnel??!!

Seriously, week 12.  I need you.  And spring?  And time change?  I'm looking forward to you, too.

Excuse me while I go cry into my Fiber One cereal.

It's evolution, BABY!!

39 weeks, 18 weeks, 5 weeks
(ready to pop prego, honeymoon prego, I need to go vomit prego)

I met these fabulous ladies several years ago while we were working together for the common good at an Employee Assistance Program.  Which is another way of saying: 20-something fresh out of graduate school social workers/counselors sitting in a cubicle with a headset while perusing social networking sites whilst instant messsaging each other about our latest clients and last nights wine debauchery.  I left this post in July 08 once Milo arrived on the scene.  One year later these 2 ladies gave birth to their own male offspring.

And here we are...Pregnant!  AGAIN!  Round TWO!  The next generation is a-coming!

And Ms. 39 weeks gave birth 4 days later in her home!! To a beautiful baby BOY!!

7 weeks, 5 days: the first peek!

I'm having a...Rorschach Ink Blot!!! (and what do you see when you look at this picture?)

Amazing how this little speck (as big as a blueberry!) creates such...havoc!!

And if we had fancy machines in that office, here's what he/she is looking like:

I was also able to *score* a script for nausea (Promethazine).

HAHA I'm taking something that says "ProMeth"!  It's doctor prescribed, ya'll!!

I can't say the meds have totally changed my life, but it does take the edge off. (yes, it's safe for baby!)
The only side effects I've experienced are "increased fatigue" (which may not even be from the meds) and the dried out sinus post benedryl-like feeling.

I also got a referral for an internal fetal medicene specialist.  Since I have a history of pre-term labor, my doc found it necessary to see if I'm a candidate for delalutin.  Which is basically a weekly injection to prevent pre-term labor.

The appointment is in a few weeks.  Honestly, I really hope I'm not a candidate.  But we shall see what they recommend....

Catching up: Pregancy Week 4 through 7

Week 4:
So it has been revealed to us that baby second coming is twirling around in ma belli.  Ma uterus to be exact.  You're probably wondering about my boobs. I feel like I'm sporting a D cup.  It's really not as sexy as I thought it would be.  OUCH!

me: week 4
 him: 30 months

Week 5:
You know what's fun?  Flatulance.  "DON'T WAKE THE BABY WITH YOUR ASS!"

Thankfully I'm not commuting to a job 56 miles away and sitting in a cube for 8 hours like I did when prego with de Milo. I'm really feeling The Luck with this one because MAN DO I NEED ANOTHER 3 HOUR NAP.

There is a great need this week to eat dinner.  Twice. Speghetti for breakfast?  YES PLEASE! And milk.  More milk more milk more milk.

This might have been said to my husb:  "This hotdog needs more ketchup.  According to my 3 pregnancy APPs I'm making legs and arms this week.  And the heart is about to start beating any day now.  So I need all the nutrition I can get.  And hold down. SO I NEED MORE KETCHUP AND NOW PLEASE. kthanx."

(get it?  I'm talking about needing nutrition whilst eating a hot dog.  haha!)

Quick story about excess saliva and mal-coordination combined with nausea:  I'm at the gym, side by side with a friend on the Elliptical machine.  We're talking pregnancy.  She's 2 months ahead of me.  As I'm talking, spit is flying out of my mouth, I bang my head on the hand holder thingys and I'm going so slow -due to the nausea- that the system keeps pausing and asking me to piss or get off. But I carry on because I AM WOMAN. I think I only burned 45 calories the whole 45 minutes I was on there.

And then I went home, ate speghetti, and slept for 3 hours.

Don't worry, I'm not going to talk constipation -or rather- the slowing down of the bowels.  This week has been...ugh...

Speaking of constipation....my son must be having sympathy constipation.  This morning he wakes up in a very sad state.  Not whining, just straight out crying.  He grips the kitchen table, sobbing, "GET OUT.  GET OUT."  Poor guy...

Also?  We bought the crib, dresser and a new glider for the baby. We are totally doing it right this time with the furniture.  Milo's current glider is a complete POS.  It squeeks like a dying bird wedged between a flamingo's legs in 10 degree water. And after 15 minutes of cuddle story nigh nigh time my ass is numb enough to deliver a 10 lb baby. And if I remember clearly I'll be spending lots of time in that bad boy at all hours of the day/night, so we purchaced the Mercedes Benz of gliders.  I might even rock my 2 cats to sleep in that beast.  My husband says he's going to be buried in this rocker.  It's that fantastic!

My fingers are crossed the crib won't be recalled like the last one.

The crib voucher was about to expire, so we went ahead and ordered it all.  I'm definitly acting like I'm 9 months pregnant with all this "nesting."

I've also started sorting through all my clothes and making room for the sexy maternity wear.  Why so soon?  Turns out I'm one of those gals that shows the minute the EPT sprouts a positive.  Even though he/she is only as big as a POPPY SEED this week!!

week 5 (and still going to the gym!?)

Okay, so maybe I'm not "showing" showing.  But my pants are definitly more snug!

Week 6:
Brief  appointment with my PA-C.  Got a referral for the OBGYN. Appt in 2 weeks!
How am I feeling?  Dizzy and lightheaded at times.  Bursts of (short-lived) energy I absolutely live for!  This week we bought paint for the baybay's room!  And painted it! Weeeee!!

Well, I didn't paint it...the hubby did...I was -you guessed it- sleeeeeeeping.....

You know that feeling you have the morning after a really CRAZY/SEXY/COOL night out with your friends where you bar hop across state lines, get kicked out for trying to mix your own drinks, pee in a used car parking lot and then have post-game wrap up in a strange apartment with the new "friends" you met at bar 12?

That's how I'm feeling.  But without the crazy/sexy/cool.

UGH.  Is this trimester over YET??

week 6.  POP!  But that's not *exactly* a baby bump.  It's more of a *gas* bump. Dead Sexy.
week 7:
I've barely left the house.  Much less this couch.  Thankfully my job hasn't scheduled me much these past few weeks.  My energy is completely pathetic.  I know this is all "relatively" short lived...

 But, seriously.

I want to go to the gym.  I want to go to the grocery store. I want to mingle with HUMANITY.   I want to not feel like my head is going to fall off from exhaustion, dizziness, and OMG the NAUSEA.   MAKE IT STOP!!

And, yes, I'm sleeping A WHOLE HECK OF A LOT, but I'm doing so much tossing and turning and up to pee-ing that it's not doing me a whole lot of good.

AND why am I crying 35 times a day?!

I'm waiting for the "this pregancy has gone by so much faster than my first one" stage.  Because so far?

It's draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaging........
