Snippets

Milo's first trip to a Mall. That is in the throws of pre-Christmas shopping vomit all over everywhere you turn.  Where there are stores.  With lots of shit 3 year olds love to have/destroy/rip/throw.
And, yet, he was good.  Angelic even.  Even when he insisted on going into Spencers and he picked up a fun looking box and says, "What THAT mama?"  "It's a beer bong, honey, put it down, please, that's not a toy for you.  Yet."

Look at this kid gazing at the water fountain.  I didn't even have to give him Benedryl.  Fuck yeah.

Xmass gifts that come in the mail are immediately opened.  Especially if they're from Grandma E.!  Coincidentally, the UPS man dropped this on our porch JUST BEFORE NAPTIME.  *knock knock*  "LOOK MAMA!  PRESENTS!  OPEN IT!!
So, guess who refused to lay down until *SOMEONE* put this bad boy together -note: i had to actually READ directions.  This is not my FAVE. AND insert batteries.  But it made him happy. It made for a LONG day, but whatevs...

At a birthday party.  Milo sees the ginormous cake, looks up at me (see above) and says, "I eat cake NOW, mommy?!"

A must to eat Nutella and spend some time "outside the kitchen table."

Important to run with the balls

An important to just run

Also an important to get thee to a bath on an occasion

the first beach

1st beach
9/10/11
15th day

Dad and Milo played while Ari and I...

snuggled and nursed (and nursed and nursed...)

Feet in the sand.
You will get used to this, Ari.

they would come back periodically...

and tell me stories about the missing swings on the pirate ship.
Closed up after Labor day.
Disappointed.

but we would quickly move on...

and get distracted by something/one else.

coming or going,
telling stories or out to play...

we are where we belong

35 weeks (bottom of the 8th)

How to keep a 3 year old busy when you are (essentially) a single parent,  nearly 9 months pregnant and all you want to do is sit, feet propped, and watch House Hunters marathons while eatting oreos interchanged with cheese doodles.

Ah, the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants life of a navy princess wife...

AND it's god-awful flippin' hot outside.  Like 115 degree heat index stupid crazy hot humidity ridiculouness.

We play with staplers.

We watch Sponge Bob.

We build towers.

We play horsey.
It's a mommy sandwich!  Get it?  Baby in front, baby in back...

We compare bellies.

I eat cake at my baby shower at work!  Coincidentally, my last day of work (for awhile at least...)!!

Let's hope the babe doesn't drop his landing gear until daddy gets back...Stay in your parachute!

Meanwhile the statistics:

Still to go:
5 weeks

Which is:
35 days

The baby is as big as a:
Large cantaloupe (19 to 22 in, 5.5lbs) estimated

The mama is as big as a:
Wholly canoli. 5 weeks left?  That can't be right...

misc pics o' the beach (may)

Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.

saturday, 56 degrees, last day of winter.

Slurping up the remains of a mild winter here in Maryland.  The winter that brought me the new life twirling inside me.  The winter that kept us inside.  Me: couch bound and dizzy with nausea and fatigue. You: in constant motion and talking and dizzy for more.

The last winter where it's just you and me.

and me and you.

Every day a new strength
Every hour a new awareness
Every moment full

I love stepping back and watching you play.  Surrounded by mini sand dunes made by friends and neighbors that have come and gone.
It's always easier making friends with bare feet in the sand. You taught me that.

or just roaming aimlessly where the land is soft...where there were once fish who then grew hands, then fingers, then prints... Marking up  the earth...simple and lovely, only potential known here...from a single cell...

to where the textures change...
and Oh, oh yes, how they'll change -in the speed of exploding star matter- shape shifting from a dream body to a grain of sand to a crawling-walking-running life force.
Seasons, bodies, minds -not just changing- but evolving... There's a universal consciousness in constant.  A solitude in knowing that every mankind has pressed their foreheads up against the same questions of fear and love.  Strange, unreliable dreams quickly forgotten in the stir of awakening -but the moments -where I freeze my frame- I only hear your laugh.

Thank you, winter, on ending on such a...note...

play on...
