Letter to Grandma
Dear Grandma,
I have been a super good boy this year. I feel I have pretty much set the Gold Standard for anything Awesome. So I hear Christmas is coming up and now that I'm a bit more "with it" this year, I'd like to go ahead and give you some direct input on my preferences...Here's a little something I came across today while shopping with the 'rents:
Look at me! I'll demonstrate what a good driver I am!
Well, since I inherited my inpatience from my mother...I was willing to settle for this:
It's perfect for when I'm watching the Big Game!
I hope you're having a great day! I think you are awesome, and you can come visit me ANYTIME!Love,
your favorite and only bestest grandson...Milo!
Bouncy chair comparative
soon enough, though, he outgrew the seat...
So we put away the beloved bouncy chair and revelled in the sight of a free sitting baby...
Fast foward a year or so, and the little one has become a standing, walking, climbing toddler...Milo's adventurous spirit led him to the discovery of the long forgotten infant bouncy seat...and here we have it folks...the bouncy chair comparitive...long live the bounce!!

Don't get any ideas...
Milo and I are blessed to have so many friends to play with. But everytime we visit their homes, Milo gets all these grandiose ideas on items he thinks he should have. Such as...
* disclaimer: this is in no way my Christmas wish list. No matter what this may look like! I'm just sayin'!!
Pirate Ship on the beach
I'm getting sick of this BIG BOY shit...what happened to the swaddled bundle of lazy? (pouty lip, nostalgia...tear)
I'm not as hippy as I claim to be...
In case you haven't noticed, I'm a mommyblogger. And I also scout other mommyblogs on a fairly regularly basis. This stemmed from my mad search of pregnancy websites during pregnancy. I is/was going through a brand new odyssey and I needed company. Clearly pregnancy and then the ensuing parenthood wasn't a new idea, but to me that labryinth needed a guide.
Today, I stumbled upon a blog of a couple that recently (yesterday) gave birth to their first baby.
A girl. In the post leading up to the delivery, the mama-to-be talked of natural childbirth, cloth diapers, growing, cultivating and preparing baby food, attachment parenting including co-sleeping, 100% breastfeeding and finally fullfilling her dream of being a stay at home mom.
I couldn't help but scoff. Pfft.
And, yes, that's a big fat no-no. We mothers shall not pass judgement on our fellow mothers. Judging. Judge Judge Judging Judy of the Judge. Poor Taste! Boo! Hiss!
Though this said blogger, let's call her Judy, has not yet posted the birth story of labor and delivery, I'm DYING to know if she made it through her first goal of doing it AU NATURAL. OH NO, not just w/o drugs, but giving birth AT HOME. NO DRUGS. NO DOCTORS. NO NOTHING BUT THE GODDAMN DOULA!
oh, i just don't get it.
I've always been afraid of giving birth. Even though I've done it, been through it, still have the t-shirt, I'm STILL AFRAID of the damn thing! Yes, I'm full of scoff and snort but it comes from a place of FEAR. I truely don't understand people who go through things KNOWING it's going to be painful. And I have yet, to sit and talk with someone who has been through the ALL NATURAL way of delivering a child. I need someone to show me the light. So to speak. I just want to understand.
Looking back, I had a short and easy labor and delivery. Though Milo came at 36 weeks, he did not suffer from any complications. He was a healthy 6 lbs 14oz, 20 inches. I did not go through PPD. Milo did not have Colic. My husband was able to take 4 weeks off from work after Milo was born. In some ways, looking back, it was good.
But still. It was the HARDEST most JARRING experience, having a baby. No matter the research, the parenting blogs, the mental prep, the friends, the family, the advice, the ripping, the sitz baths, the meditation and yes THE MEDICATION. FUCK IT -it wasn't much like I thought it would be.
SO.....who out there did cloth diapers? grew and prepared their babys food? breastfed 100 percent for 1 full year?...Do those things WORK? and work well for you? Dude, my hat is OFF.
In all fairness, I did start off with the best intentions. I made Milo food, breastfed and we did the co-sleeping thing-all until it didn't work anymore. And that's all I've got to say about that. So perhaps my judging judgeness is from envy. I have no will power or endurance. I am lazy and a retard in the kitchen.
But I'm ok with that.
Shame on me for taking the path of least resistance...but,
I am not regretful of getting an epidural. Never felt regret for buying a breastpump AND filling in the gaps with formula. And I feel absolutely fine for giving my baby jarred food fresh from the grocery store.
These things made my life easier. At a time when life was anything BUT.
Karma is a funny thing though, huh? The doctor who delivered me told me the next pregnancy will be considered "high risk" due to how early and how quickly Milo came. I may not have a choice in the whole epidural matter next time. So, who knows? I may be singing the praises of roadside, drug-free, "just me and you baby" birthing stories...
This particular blogger doesn't know it yet, but she just found herself a new follower. I'm looking foward to seeing how her journey into motherhood plays out...
